Author of speculative fiction

Grace Meikle is a Canadian writer and scientist living in Edmonton, Alberta with lived experience in Japan, Taiwan, China, and India.  Her parents met and married in Hamamatsu, Japan and she spent her formative years in Kobe. That experience changed her life completely and shapes her worldviews and writing to this day.

She thinks climate change is the greatest existential challenge of her generation and seeks to understand how humans get their energy. In search of the answer, she's spent more than a decade working in the energy industry, from chasing oil rigs in Northern Alberta, to designing off-grid solar in India, to supporting cleanup from Fukushima Dai-ichi, to scaling up technology solutions to climate change around the world. The human capacity for technology and innovation give her optimism.

Her writing is inspired by humanity's relationship to the climate and technology, her advocacy for peaceful, sustainable use of nuclear energy, and her experiences living around the world. She’s published several short stories, is working on multiple novel projects and anthologies, and is an active member of the Writer’s Guild of Alberta. She loves cats and doing almost anything in the outdoors.
